Job Description:Sidley Austin's New York office seeks candidates with 2+ years of experience advising fintech companies, payment providers, banks and other financial services companies on U.S. federal and state laws governing payments, banking, and digital assets. Candidates should have experience counseling clients on regulatory compliance and transactional matters involving innovative payments products and services, with a strong interest in emerging financial technologies.
Key responsibilities to include:
- Advise clients on U.S. federal and state laws governing payments, banking, money transmission, and digital assets.
- Advise fintech companies and financial institutions on the development, launch, and operation of payments and banking products, including regulatory compliance, product design, commercial contracting, and risk management considerations.
- Draft, review, and negotiate commercial agreements relating to payment services, banking partnerships, embedded finance offerings, stablecoins, and digital wallets.
- Support corporate transactions involving regulated financial services businesses, including regulatory due diligence and advice on related legal issues.
- Provide practical, business-oriented advice to startups, growth-stage companies, and established financial institutions navigating evolving legal and regulatory frameworks.
Candidates should possess excellent analytical, organizational, project management, and client service skills, and the ability to manage sophisticated matters in a collaborative environment. Candidates must be admitted or eligible to seek prompt admission to the New York bar.
Salaries vary by location and are based on numerous factors, including, but not limited to, the relevant market, skills, experience, and education of the selected candidate. Target Salary Range - $235,000 - $310,000
