Description:

Sheppard is seeking a second- or third-year litigation associate to join our Privacy and Cybersecurity litigation team. If you enjoy digging into new legal questions and are curious about how technology affects consumers and businesses, we encourage you to apply.

This position is open to any U.S. Sheppard office, though New York and Del Mar are preferred.

Sheppard, Mullin, Richter & Hampton LLP is a global Am Law 50 full-service law firm with over 1,200 attorneys across 16 offices worldwide. Our team defends clients in disputes at the intersection of technology, privacy, and consumer protection. You will help litigate class actions and mass arbitration matters involving privacy, cybersecurity, data breaches, artificial intelligence, false advertising, and other consumer protection claims. Working with partners and more senior associates, you will contribute to legal research, drafting pleadings and motions, factual investigation, discovery, and preparation for depositions and hearings while building your litigation skills and subject-matter knowledge.

What We're Looking For:
  • A solid foundation in litigation, with experience in legal research, writing, and supporting case preparation appropriate to your year level.
  • A genuine interest in class actions, mass arbitration, and disputes involving privacy, cybersecurity, AI, false advertising, and consumer protection.
  • Prior exposure to these areas is welcome, but not required. We encourage strong junior litigators who are eager to learn, even if they have not yet worked on a privacy case, class action, or mass arbitration matter.
  • Strong research and writing skills, with an interest in tackling developing legal issues and turning complex concepts into clear arguments.
  • A thoughtful, detail-oriented approach to reviewing facts, organizing information, and supporting discovery.
  • A collaborative approach, clear communication, and a willingness to ask questions, seek feedback, and take on increasing responsibility as your skills develop
  • A technical background is not required but we are looking for someone who is curious about technology and willing to learn how products, services, and data practices work.

Qualifications:
  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school
  • Second- or third-year litigation associate
  • Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent analytical and organizational skills with attention to detail

Resume, cover letter, and law school transcript are required to apply.
