Job Summary:
The Trust & Estate Litigation Attorney will represent clients involved in adversarial legal proceedings such as litigation, arbitration, mediation, and disputed administration. The disputes will generally be trust and estate-related but will include a broad spectrum of types of cases including will contests, trust contests, fiduciary litigation, accounting actions, elective share proceedings, trust reformation and modification actions, and contested guardianships. The attorney will work along with other attorneys in a team environment to represent individuals and institutional clients in state and federal court proceedings from intake through a final resolution, including client meetings, written discovery, depositions, motion practice, mediation, evidentiary hearings, and trial.

Duties/Responsibilities:
  • Handle or assist with all aspects of litigation including pleadings, research, written discovery, depositions, motion practice, mediations, evidentiary hearings, and trials
  • Develop litigation strategies with other attorneys to effectively achieve client goals
  • Manage cases from inception to completion either independently or under the supervision of other attorneys
  • Effectively manage multiple clients and matters
  • Effectively and efficiently prioritize multiple tasks
  • Work closely with other attorneys, paralegals, and assistants to provide timely and efficient legal services to clients
  • Delegate to and supervise the work of paralegals and assistants
  • Draft pleadings, pre-trial motions, dispositive motions, responses, briefs, legal memoranda, correspondence, mediation statements, and other written product
  • Conduct legal research to support case strategies and written product
  • Prepare written discovery and responses to written discovery
  • Manage the production, receipt, and review of written and electronic discovery
  • Communicate with clients about the status of their matter and new developments

Required Skills/Abilities:
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills
  • Must be highly organized and detail-oriented
  • Must be self-motivated and independent
  • Ability to use document management and time management software
  • Full proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and PDF)
  • Strong analytic and legal problem-solving skills
  • Ability to function well in a fast-paced and at times stressful environment
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise discretion

Education and Experience:
  • Possess an outstanding academic record with a JD from an ABA-accredited law school
  • Admitted to and in good standing with The Florida Bar
  • One (1) to three (3) years of experience in a litigation practice
  • Trust/Estate litigation experience is preferred but not required
  • Experience with electronic discovery platforms
  • Experience in Coyote and iManage is a plus
