Our network of 8,000+ attorneys, local directors and other specialists handles services such as trademark filings, customs paperwork and company setup. Flatfee manages client communication, billing, documents and deadlines, so our attorneys can focus on the legal work.About the role:
Flatfee is adding a small group of attorneys to its trademark filing team. This role is designed for licensed attorneys who do not currently practice trademark law and would like to add it to their practice. You will be trained and supported by our experienced trademark attorney project managers.
This is a part-time, remote, contract position. Most attorneys spend about 1–2 hours a day on the work, alongside their existing practice.
Qualifications:
- Active attorney in good standing with a U.S. state bar
- Not currently practicing as a trademark attorney
- No separate USPTO registration is required: any attorney in good standing with a state bar may represent clients before the USPTO in trademark matters
- Responsive communication and strong attention to detail
What You'll Do:
- Prepare and file trademark applications and related filings with the USPTO as attorney of record
- Work with our trademark attorney project managers, who guide you through each application (you remain responsible for the filing itself)
- Use a dedicated Flatfee filing email address on your filings, so our docketing team can track all deadlines and Office Action timelines
- Check the Flatfee vendor portal daily for assigned work and updates

- Power of Attorney paperwork
- Docketing and deadline tracking
- All client communication, including progress updates and next steps
Compensation:
Paid per completed filing:
- $20 per standard USPTO filing (e.g. new applications, Statements of Use, Section 8 declarations)
- $40 per substantive Office Action response
- $50 per search or infringement analysis
At about 10 standard filings a day, attorneys typically complete around 200 filings, or about $4,000, per month.
Deadlines
Each assigned order has a 72-hour window to complete your task. If you need more time, leave a comment in the portal and we can extend the window or reassign the order. A reassignment does not affect your standing with Flatfee. Our overall target turnaround for trademark orders is one week from assignment to filing completion for each mark.
Selection Process:
We are selecting 5 attorneys:
- Apply on Indeed. Applicants will receive an invitation to our introductory seminar, where we walk through a sample trademark order and answer questions.
- Our team reviews resumes, and selected candidates are asked for their weekly availability.
- Selected candidates join a seminar with our trademark attorney project manager and our fulfillment team.
- Five attorneys are selected and complete formal training with our project managers.
