What to Expect
Tesla is looking for a Senior Counsel to join our Commercial Legal team. In this role, you will support a broad range of commercial transactions, including procurement, technology development and licensing, and strategic partnerships. The position will be based in one of Tesla's offices in Austin, Texas or the Bay Area of California.

What You'll Do:

Manage a high-volume, diverse portfolio of commercial and technology-based contracts, including semiconductor-related agreements, technology licensing agreements, development agreements, services agreements, software license agreements, and confidentiality agreements
Provide advice on a wide variety of strategic, regulatory, and transactional matters across multiple internal teams and business functions
Drive resolution of legal disputes by drafting and responding to breach of contract claims and negotiating and drafting settlement agreements
Prepare and maintain contract forms to support Tesla's businesses and areas of operation
Collaborate with legal colleagues worldwide to promote consistency in risk allocation and contracting practices across Tesla's businesses

What You'll Bring

J.D. with a current license to practice in at least one U.S. state or Washington, D.C.
Minimum of 10 years of practice experience; combination of law firm and in-house experience preferred
Excellent written and verbal communication skills with business-level or near native-level fluency in English; business-level proficiency in another language is a plus
Team player with strong interpersonal skills and the ability to proactively identify issues, drive projects, make nuanced cost-benefit assessments, and identify and help implement pragmatic and creative solutions
Ability to work both independently and collaboratively while managing competing priorities in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
Quick, flexible learner with strong analytical skills, intellectual curiosity, and comfort navigating ambiguity and risk
High standards, impeccable integrity, ethical conduct, and sound judgment
