The Office of the State Courts Administrator (OSCA) is seeking qualified applicants who possess the leadership skills and legal education and experience necessary to assume the responsibilities of an Attorney within the Office of the General Counsel (OGC).

The OGC addresses legal issues relating to the administration of the State Courts System (SCS), provides legal advice to the OSCA, the Florida Supreme Court, and SCS.

This position is responsible for providing legal advice on public records requests; procurement issues; reviewing court contracts; drafting contract documents; negotiating favorable contract terms; providing legal and drafting assistance regarding competitive solicitations, including Requests for Proposals and Invitations to Negotiate. This position also conducts legal research and analysis; prepares legislative bill analyses; monitors legislation; and drafts memoranda of law and reports. The position works independently and reports directly to the General Counsel.

Examples of Work:
Reviews case law and legislative enactments, including staff analysis, in preparing legal memoranda; draws legal conclusions and provides recommendations for action.

Researches, analyzes and writes on various legal issues, and provides legal advice to OSCA, trial courts and/or Supreme Court committees.

Attends or conducts staff, committee and other professional meetings to exchange information; attends technical or professional workshops, seminars and conferences to improve professional skills and/or to make presentations.

Provides legal advice on procurement issues; reviews contracts and draft contract documents; and other contract matters.

Review and responds to judicial public records requests.

Education and Training Guidelines:
The successful applicant must possess a Juris Doctorate degree, and is required to become a member in good standing with The Florida Bar within twelve (12) months of appointment to this position.

Strong preference will be given to candidates who possess strong legal writing and research skills, or knowledge of Florida State Courts System operations.
