Position Overview:We are seeking a highly skilled Attorney to join our team as a Senior Attorney in charge of litigation. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in immigration law, particularly removal defense, and possess exceptional writing and editing abilities. They will play a crucial role in ensuring the accuracy, clarity, and effectiveness of our legal briefs, affidavits, and other legal documents prepared by staff.
Responsibilities:
- Proofread and edit legal documents, including briefs, affidavits, motions, and appeals, to ensure accuracy, coherence, and compliance with legal standards.
- Conduct thorough reviews of documents for grammatical errors, typos, formatting inconsistencies, and legal inaccuracies.
- Collaborate with attorneys and legal staff to refine arguments, strengthen legal strategies, and improve overall document quality.
- Research legal issues and precedents to support the editing process and enhance the persuasive impact of written materials.
- Maintain proficiency in relevant legal guidelines, regulations, and case law related to immigration and removal defense.
Qualifications:
- Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school and admission to the bar. i
- Minimum of seven years of experience practicing law, with a focus on immigration law and removal defense preferred.
- Proven track record of excellence in legal writing, editing, and research, with experience in law journal or appellate work highly desirable.
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to review complex legal documents meticulously.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to convey complex legal concepts clearly and persuasively.
- Ability to work efficiently under tight deadlines and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Demonstrated commitment to social justice and advocacy for immigrant rights preferred.
