Job Summary:
You will serve as a member of an inter-disciplinary, integrated treatment team. You will supervise, train, coordinate, and monitor activities of administrative staff. Additionally, you will provide services to individuals with substance use disorder (SUD).

What you will do:
  • Work collaboratively with the peer Navigator to assist eligible individuals with legal and/or social issues impeding their wellness, recovery, and/or success in treatment, including but not limited to housing issues, public benefits, preparation of legal documents, debt, etc.
  • Serve and satisfy all legal functions outlined in the MLP model of care.
  • Provide legal services, legal advice, counseling, and representation in administrative and court proceedings to eligible individuals, as well as draft necessary legal documents.
  • May serve as an advocate or counsel in civil and municipal criminal matters as needed.
  • Liaison with public defenders of the individual's private counsel to assist in the individual's case.
  • Maintain written and verbal communication for effective follow-up of referrals and other information exchange as needed on written consent of the client.
  • Maintain appropriate records of client services as required by law and attorney canons of ethics pursuant to the New Jersey Supreme Court Rules.
  • Maintain client confidentiality except pursuant to written and detailed consent of the client
  • Comply with all ethical standards and adhere to the New Jersey Rules of Professional Conduct and New Jersey Court Rules.
  • Provide periodic legal training for CarePlus NJ staff, as requested.

What We Need to See:
  • Must have a Juris Doctorate from an accredited law school
  • Must be admitted to practice as an Attorney at Law in the State of New Jersey
  • Active member and in good standing with the New Jersey State Bar Association.
  • Must have a minimum of 2 (two) years of legal practice experience in a field of law appropriate to the position
  • A valid driver's license and must be insurable under the Agency's automobile insurance policy.
