Are you an Attorney Role admitted in NY?
Barry McTiernan & Moore's Manhattan office is currently seeking an experienced Attorney to join our General Litigation group. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 3 years practicing in the areas of premise liability defense and property claims. To be considered the experienced attorney must possess experience in all phases of pre-trial litigation as well as strong organization, writing and analytical skills. Trial experience is not required but a plus.

Here's some of the work you will be doing.

Represent clients in all phases of litigation, including discovery,
Meticulous compliance with firm and client billing and reporting guidelines.
Attend court appearances, hearings, depositions, and case management conferences. Conduct complex legal research and discovery.
Draft discovery demands and responses, motions, case evaluations summaries, settlement agreements, pleadings, and legal memoranda and other case handling materials in response to client guidelines.
Conduct 50-h hearings on behalf of the City of New York pursuant to GML 50-h, including questioning claimants, developing factual records, and preserving testimony.
Review and analyze Notices of Claim, police reports, accident reports, medical records, and other relevant documents to prepare for hearings.

Requirements:
What you will bring to BMM!

Expert experience with the New York General Municipal Law, CPLR, and City agency procedures.
Superior court knowledge and experience arguing cases. Superior case management and advocacy skills.
Experience drafting briefs and pleadings. Experience taking and defending depositions.
Minimum of 3 years admitted and practicing as an Attorney in NY in a defense firm, labor law is a plus but not required. Admission in NJ is a plus but not required.
Demonstrates experience with 50h-hearings and cases involving false arrest, police misconduct, and civil rights claims.
Prior experience conducting 50-h hearings or depositions including false arrest, police, excessive force, and related municipal defense work.
Demonstrate strong organizational skills, time management and adherence to strict deadlines. Possess excellent oral and written communication skills.
Detail-oriented, self-motivated, and driven with a commitment to excellence. Proficient in Lexis/Nexis.

Salary Description
$125k to $160k
