Walter Gabriel Injury Lawyers is seeking an attorney to join our growing Baton Rouge office. This position is ideal for a motivated attorney who wants to take ownership of cases, work directly with clients, and play a meaningful role in the continued expansion of a respected plaintiff-side personal injury practice.Our firm represents individuals and families injured in automobile collisions, commercial vehicle and 18-wheeler accidents, premises liability matters, and other serious personal injury cases. We are committed to providing aggressive representation while treating every client with responsiveness, compassion, and personal attention.
Position Responsibilities:
The attorney will be responsible for managing a personal injury caseload from initial evaluation through resolution. Responsibilities may include:
- Evaluating new cases and developing effective case strategies
- Managing pre-litigation and litigation matters
- Communicating regularly with clients regarding treatment, case progress, and expectations
- Reviewing medical records, accident reports, insurance policies, and other evidence
- Drafting pleadings, discovery, motions, settlement demands, and legal correspondence
- Taking and defending depositions
- Attending court hearings, mediations, settlement conferences, and trials
- Negotiating settlements with insurance companies and defense counsel
- Working closely with case managers, paralegals, and support staff
- Maintaining accurate and timely case information within the firm's case-management system
- Monitoring deadlines and ensuring compliance with court rules and firm procedures
- Helping identify opportunities to improve case value, efficiency, and client service
- Participating in the growth and professional development of the Baton Rouge office
Qualifications:
The successful candidate should possess:
- An active license to practice law in Louisiana and current good standing with the Louisiana State Bar Association
- Meaningful experience practicing law, preferably in personal injury, civil litigation, insurance defense, or a related field
- Experience managing cases and communicating directly with clients
- Strong legal research, writing, negotiation, and analytical skills
- The ability to handle multiple matters while meeting deadlines
- Professional judgment and the ability to work with limited supervision
- Strong interpersonal skills and a client-focused approach
- A willingness to collaborate with attorneys and support staff
- Trial, deposition, mediation, or courtroom experience is preferred
- Plaintiff-side personal injury experience is strongly preferred but not required for an otherwise qualified candidate
Compensation:
First-year compensation is up to $125,000, depending on the candidate's experience, qualifications, demonstrated production, and ability to successfully manage and resolve cases.
The compensation structure will be discussed during the interview process and may include a combination of salary and performance-based incentives.
