State Compensation Insurance Fund's Fresno State Contracts Legal office is seeking an experienced litigator at the Attorney III or Attorney classifications to join our exceptional legal team defending California's insured employers and state agencies. Who we are looking for:
Experienced Attorney III or newly admitted Attorney with a passion for workers' compensation law. No prior workers' comp experience required for applicants applying at the Attorney classification. The Attorney will handle a hybrid caseload of both insured and state contract cases.

Location:
The Fresno State Contracts Legal unit appears at the Workers' Compensation Appeals Board (WCAB) district offices in Fresno. The incumbent/successful candidate may also be required to appear at other WCAB offices and locations on occasion.
To facilitate local in-person hearings, we seek candidates preferably located within Fresno County and/or counties nearby. Reimbursement for local travel will be provided within the allowable mile radius. Please apply only to this Fresno position if it's your preferred location.

- Draft compelling pleadings, conduct discovery, and negotiate settlements
- Skillfully negotiate and draft settlements
- Make confident court appearances, including trials
- Analyze orthopedic and medical reports to build strong cases
Working Conditions:
To be considered, you must provide a fully completed STD 678 application, resume, and statement of qualifications via CalCareers. Resumes submitted in lieu of the STD 678 may not be accepted. Completed STD 678 must include duties performed, start and end dates, and hours worked per week for each position held.
Selected candidate(s) hired may be required to attend in-person Onboarding at our Vacaville office with expenses for attendance paid by State Fund.
