Jefferson County seeks a passionate attorney to perform a variety of legal work for the Human Services team. This team provides legal representation and advice concerning child abuse and/or neglect investigations, dependency and neglect proceedings and appeals, juvenile delinquency matters, adult protection investigations and proceedings, mental health cases, drug and alcohol commitments, public assistance applications and appeals, liquor license violation prosecutions, civil collections, child support services, records requests and subpoenas. To be successful in this position, the Assistant County Attorney must be detail-oriented, have good organizational and negotiation skills, the ability to multi-task and meet deadlines, have strong analytical and problem-solving skills, and establish and maintain working relationships with clients and co-workers. The Assistant County Attorney will work independently in a technologically advanced, fast-paced, sophisticated, and collegial work environment in our office with county clients and agencies, elected officials, and the public.

The Jefferson County Attorney's Office consists of just over 40 attorneys and staff members who work collaboratively to provide a full range of legal services to Jefferson County. The County Attorney's Office provides flexibility in creating a hybrid work schedule, with both in-office and remote work opportunities that promote work-life balance.

Depending on qualifications, this position may be hired as an Assistant County Attorney at the Staff or Associate level. The Staff position is an entry-level attorney position. The Associate position will typically assist other attorneys in making decisions regarding their workflow, and interactions at the Associate level are typically concerned with providing communications at levels of organizational operations and may utilize activities such as evaluating customer satisfaction, developing cooperative associations, and allocating resources to improve work operations, work quality, overall achievement of organizational goals and objectives, and customer satisfaction.

Schedule:
This full-time position operates on a standard work week (Monday-Friday). This position offers the opportunity for remote work on some days of the week.

Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Requires JD or LLB from an accredited law school.
  • A minimum of three years' experience of litigation is preferred.
  • Must be licensed to practice law in Colorado; must be a member in good standing of the State Bar of Colorado.
  • A writing sample is required and must be attached in order to be considered for employment. Appellate writing samples are preferred.
