Description:
Position Overview:The ideal candidate will have 2–4 years of relevant legal experience, with substantial experience handling probate matters and/or litigation. The successful candidate should be comfortable taking ownership of assigned matters, communicating directly with clients, conducting legal research, drafting litigation documents, and appearing in court.
Experience in probate and trust litigation is strongly preferred. Additional experience in civil litigation, business law, workers' compensation, real estate law, or related practice areas is a plus.
This is an in-office position in Seal Beach, CA.
Responsibilities:
- Manage and assist with probate, trust, and civil litigation matters from inception through resolution.
- Communicate professionally and effectively with clients, opposing counsel, courts, and other parties.
- Conduct legal research and analyze statutes, case law, court rules, and other legal authorities.
- Draft pleadings, motions, briefs, oppositions, replies, discovery, correspondence, and other legal documents.
- Prepare for and make court appearances, including hearings, conferences, and other proceedings.
- Assist with discovery, including drafting and responding to discovery requests and preparing for depositions.
- Review and analyze legal documents, records, and evidence.
- Develop case strategies and assist with settlement negotiations and dispute resolution.
- Maintain organized and accurate case files and meet applicable deadlines.
- Manage multiple matters and priorities while maintaining a high level of attention to detail.
- Work independently while collaborating with attorneys and staff on complex matters.
- Perform other duties and responsibilities associated with the practice of law as needed.
Qualifications:
- Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school.
- Active membership and good standing with the California State Bar.
- Approximately 2–4 years of relevant legal experience.
- Experience handling probate and/or trust matters strongly preferred.
- Some Litigation experience is highly desirable.
- Strong legal research, writing, analytical, and oral advocacy skills.
- Demonstrated ability to draft pleadings, motions, briefs, and other legal documents.
- Comfortable communicating directly with clients and providing professional, responsive service.
- Comfortable making court appearances and advocating on behalf of clients.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage competing deadlines.
- Excellent attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and exercise sound professional judgment.
- Professional demeanor and strong interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency with standard legal technology and office software.
Compensation:
Salary: Starting $90,000 depending on experience and qualifications. Attorney hired will be eligible for bonuses depending upon performance.
