Position Overview:Boutique San Antonio law firm seeking a motivated litigation attorney to join our small, close-knit, and fast-moving team. This role primarily services our credit union clients, handling a high volume of consumer collections litigation from demand through judgment and post-judgment resolution. Responsibilities:
- Draft, review, and file pleadings for credit union collections matters, including original petitions, motions for default judgment, motions for summary judgment, agreed judgments, and discovery.
- Prepare demand letters and negotiate Rule 11 payment and settlement agreements with members and opposing parties.
- Manage a high-volume docket across Texas courts, tracking deadlines and ensuring timely filings.
- Appear at hearings and court proceedings, and direct each matter from intake through resolution.
- Conduct legal research using online databases, artificial intelligence tools, and other resources to support case strategy.
- Maintain accurate case files and time entries in the firm's case management and task management systems (for example, Curo, ClickUp, and SharePoint).
- Communicate with clients and members regarding case status, payment arrangements, settlements, and account resolution.
- Stay current on changes in Texas debt collection, consumer finance, and civil procedure law.
Requirements:
- Education: Law degree (J.D.). Licensed to practice law in Texas preferred; candidates awaiting bar exam results are encouraged to apply.
- Experience: All experience levels welcome, from 5 or more years of litigation experience to entry-level associates.
- Legal software proficiency: Comfort with legal research databases, case management software, e-filing systems, and the Microsoft Office suite, with a willingness to use AI tools to work efficiently.
