Position Summary:We're hiring an Immigration Attorney to support our legal team in representing individuals in removal proceedings, with a strong focus on detained clients. You'll report directly to the Managing Attorney and play a hands-on role in case strategy, client advocacy, and court representation.
This is not a passive, advisory-only role. You'll be actively managing cases, appearing before immigration courts, preparing filings, and guiding clients through complex and time-sensitive immigration processes. The work requires both legal precision and the ability to operate with urgency and empathy, especially when working with detained individuals. Exposure to or experience with habeas petitions for detained clients is required.
We're looking for someone with proven experience in immigration law, particularly removal defense and/or detained cases, who can confidently navigate evolving regulations and procedures. The right person is detail-oriented, responsive, and committed to delivering high-quality legal representation while maintaining compassion and professionalism in every client interaction.
What You'll Do:
- Meet with clients to assess their immigration needs and determine viable legal strategies
- Advise clients on available immigration options, clearly explaining requirements, risks, and timelines
- Prepare, review, and file a range of immigration applications, including petitions, work permits, green cards, naturalization, and waivers
- Represent clients in immigration court, including removal defense, asylum, and bond hearings before EOIR
- Handle appeals before the Board of Immigration Appeals and other relevant courts, building strong, well-supported legal arguments
- Advocate for clients seeking asylum or other humanitarian relief, guiding them through case preparation and proceedings
- Prepare clients for interviews and hearings, ensuring they are informed and confident throughout the process
- Represent clients in deportation/removal proceedings, pursuing relief such as cancellation of removal, asylum, and adjustment of status
- Stay current on immigration laws, regulations, and policy updates, applying changes to active and future cases
- Collaborate with internal teams by providing guidance on case strategy and supporting client-related inquiries

Education:
Mandatory Requirements
Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited US law school.
Qualifications:
- Active and in good standing with the State Bar of Texas.
- At least 3-5 years of experience in a similar position.
- Experience in the legal services industry.
- Experience in US Immigration Law, including family-based and humanitarian-based petitions.
- Proficient with learning and troubleshooting new technologies.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to prioritize tasks and delegate them when appropriate.
- Ability to function well in a high-paced and at times stressful environment.
- Proficient with Google Suite or related software.
- Experience working with legal assistants and support staff to ensure smooth case management.
Working Conditions:
This is a remote position.; however, the role may require attending in-person court hearings and client interviews.
