Job Summary:
Keefe, Campbell, Biery & Associates is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Litigation Associate Attorney to join our dynamic team in Chicago. The ideal candidate will be an accomplished litigator with a strong background in Illinois civil practice and a dedicated focus on insurance defense. This role offers the opportunity to manage significant cases, engage in all phases of litigation, and contribute to the firm's legacy of excellence.
Responsibilities:
- Manage a diverse caseload of Illinois State and Federal civil litigation, with a primary focus on insurance defense matters.
- Prepare and argue pleadings and motions effectively before Judges in both state and federal courts.
- Conduct and defend expert and lay depositions, demonstrating strong analytical and advocacy skills.
- Make necessary court appearances on both the Illinois State and Federal levels.
- Maintain meticulous and accurate records of all billable time for invoicing purposes.
- Engage in mediation and negotiation with a confident and measured approach to conflict resolution, aiming for optimal client outcomes.
- Conduct thorough legal research and analysis to support case strategies.
- Draft a variety of legal documents, including discovery requests and responses, briefs, and settlement agreements.
- Communicate effectively and professionally with clients, opposing counsel, and court personnel.
- Collaborate with senior attorneys and other legal professionals within the firm.
- A Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.
- Admission to the Illinois State Bar and active license to practice law in New York.
- At least 1-5 years of verifiable experience in the legal profession, specifically within litigation.
- Sound knowledge of Illinois civil practice and procedure.
- Demonstrated experience in mediation and negotiation, showcasing a confident and measured approach to conflict resolution.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including strong presentation skills.
- Effective use of computer systems for client database management and billing.
- Strong relationship-building skills with clients and colleagues.
- Ability to work autonomously on case assignments while also thriving as part of a collaborative team.
- Good organizational skills and a strong capacity to be detail-oriented.
- A high level of integrity and professional accountability.
