Position Overview:
We are seeking an experienced Associate Immigration Attorney with at least 3 years of immigration law experience to join our growing legal team in Long Island City, New York or Great Neck, NY.
The ideal candidate is a motivated advocate with strong litigation, client management, and legal writing skills who is comfortable handling a diverse caseload, including family-based immigration, removal defense, and immigration court matters.
Responsibilities:
- Represent clients before the Immigration Court in Master Calendar and Individual Hearings.
- Handle removal defense matters, including cancellation of removal, asylum, withholding of removal, and related relief.
- Represent clients before USCIS in adjustment of status, naturalization, asylum, and other immigration interviews.
- Prepare legal briefs, motions, applications, and supporting documentation.
- Provide strategic legal advice and exceptional client service throughout the representation.
- Collaborate with attorneys, paralegals, and legal support staff to ensure high-quality case management.
- Maintain current knowledge of immigration laws, regulations, and legal developments.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with clients and, when appropriate, co-counsel.
Qualifications:
- Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school.
- Active membership in a State Bar (New York admission preferred).
- Minimum of 3 years of experience practicing immigration law.
- Demonstrated experience handling:
- Removal Defense
- Immigration Court litigation
- Cancellation of Removal
- Asylum and Withholding of Removal
- Family-based immigration matters
- Excellent legal research, writing, and oral advocacy skills.
- Strong organizational and time management abilities.
- Exceptional attention to detail.
- Ability to manage multiple cases in a fast-paced environment.
- Commitment to outstanding client service and teamwork.
