Description:

De Mott, Curtright & Armendáriz, LLP (DMCA) is seeking an Associate Attorney to support our growing Houston office, with a focus on family-based immigration and immigration litigation. This hybrid position is open to both entry-level and experienced attorneys and offers a combination of in-office and remote work.

Whether you are newly licensed, transitioning into immigration law, or an experienced immigration attorney looking for your next opportunity, this position offers meaningful, hands-on work in a collaborative and supportive environment.

At DMCA, we provide mentorship and training to attorneys beginning their careers while giving experienced attorneys the autonomy and resources needed to manage complex matters successfully. You will have the opportunity to develop legal strategies, draft motions and briefs, respond to Requests for Evidence and denials, prepare clients for interviews and hearings, and advocate for clients before USCIS and the immigration courts.

We are looking for someone who is motivated, adaptable, compassionate, and committed to providing excellent legal representation. If you are looking for a place where your work matters, your experience is valued, and your career can thrive, we would love to hear from you.

What You'll Do:
  • Manage a diverse caseload of immigration matters from consultation through resolution.
  • Develop legal strategies tailored to each client's unique circumstances.
  • Handle family-based immigration, removal defense, and other immigration-related matters.
  • Draft motions, legal briefs, memoranda, and other filings before USCIS and the immigration courts.
  • Analyze and respond to Requests for Evidence (RFEs), Notices of Intent to Deny (NOIDs), and case denials.
  • Prepare motions to reopen, motions to reconsider, appeals, and other post-decision filings when appropriate.
  • Prepare clients for USCIS interviews, immigration court hearings, and other proceedings.
  • Conduct legal research and remain current on developments in immigration law.
  • Collaborate closely with attorneys, legal assistants, and client relations professionals.
  • Maintain organized case files and detailed case notes using the firm's case-management systems.
  • Provide clients with clear communication, guidance, and advocacy throughout their cases.

Qualifications:
  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school.
  • Active bar license in any U.S. jurisdiction.
  • Entry-level and experienced attorneys are encouraged to apply.
  • Fluency in English and Spanish.
  • Strong legal writing, research, analytical, and advocacy skills.
  • Excellent organizational and case-management abilities.
  • Ability to work independently and effectively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
  • Ability to identify urgent matters, manage deadlines, and prioritize competing responsibilities.
  • Immigration law experience is preferred but not required. Experience in family-based immigration, removal defense, or federal litigation is especially valued.
  • Must be located in or willing to relocate to the Houston area and able to work in the Houston office as required under the hybrid schedule.
