The normal job duties you will perform:
We are seeking someone to prepare and review high skilled immigrant petitions (EB-1A, EB-1B, EB-2 NIW, O-1, etc.), who is willing to provide advice to clients, vet and recommend reference lists, assess documentation, draft legal memos and petition letters, do deep work in revising letters and briefs, and searching out documents to improve case filings. The ideal candidate will have experience improving cases at every step of the process and pushing them through to strong finished products. This is a detail oriented, deep thought role with ample support from a team of Legal Writers and Paralegals. It is not a management role at this time.

Duties include:
  • Lead client communications via email, phone, and video call and ensure a seamless client experience while immigration petitions are prepared
  • Serve as the attorney of record (or work under attorney supervision) for immigration petitions, including EB-1A, EB-2 NIW, O-1, I-539, I-485, and relevant RFE Responses
  • Set strategy for clients' individual immigration journeys
  • Create work plans and strategies for successful case preparation, including custom checklists and internal forms
  • Review and provide detailed edits to written work product from Legal Writers, providing feedback and training as needed
  • Review and edit immigration forms produced by the Paralegals
  • Review documents and filing packages to ensure the submission of strong petitions
  • Draft legal documents, letters, and forms independently, without support staff, as needed
  • Perform legal research and write summaries, briefs, and memos
  • Contact various government agencies on behalf of clients
  • Maintain client records and track important dates
  • Build a system of templates for standardized communications
  • Build legal knowledge and maintain deep expertise in individual immigration options
  • Maintain an active AILA membership
  • Other duties as assigned

The skills and experience that we are looking for:
  • J.D. required, or LLM with bar licensure
  • Active state bar license
  • At least 2 years of experience in high skilled immigration that includes EB-1A, EB-2 NIW, O-1, H-1B, I-539, AOS
  • Able to work independently without on-site supervision
  • Able to prioritize and manage tasks independently
  • Meet our firm's standard technology skill requirements for all employees:
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint or similar/equivalent software
  • Proficient in Adobe Acrobat or similar pdf editing software
  • Proficient at internet research for information and answers
  • Familiar with cloud file storage software such as Dropbox, Google Drive, or similar
  • Familiar with SharePoint or collaborative spreadsheets/files
