Responsibilities:
What you'll be challenged to do: A Plans, Designs & Oversees Construction Company is looking for an attorney with significant experience in a corporate environment to help provide legal services for a fast growing organization. The Associate General Counsel will work closely with the General Counsel in the enhancement and development of legal systems and procedures to provide efficient support for the firm.

General Duties & Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
  • Drafts, reviews, and negotiates various complex and standard professional services contracts, as well as other types of contracts and documents with legal significance.
  • Manage day-to-day workflow for contracting and compliance for firm wide operations.
  • Provides efficient, practical, business-oriented, and risk-aware legal advice to senior management and business clients.
  • Responsible for management of disputes and claims in partnership with General Counsel
  • Coordinate engagement with outside counsel and help in establishing budgets and helps in establishing budgets and reserves.
  • Assists internal clients with legal matters including but not limited to updating and reviewing standard contract templates and agreements with external clients.
  • Contributes to and refines the firm's templates, guidance documents, and the development of a legal site and procedures for more efficient legal services.
  • Maintains active participation in professional societies to keep abreast of relevant legal and compliance issues.
  • Develop and conduct training for internal clients in areas such as contracts and risk management.
  • Provides legal support for Human Resources issues (policies, termination practices, worker's comp, immigration, etc ).
  • Provides support for merger and acquisition activity.
  • Perform other duties as needed.

Qualifications:

  • Licensed to practice law in a U.S. (Missouri or Kansas preferred), a solid academic background.
  • 5 to 8 years of legal experience practicing law in a law firm and/or in-house specializing in engineering and consulting services.
  • A history of developing and implementing successful strategies, and functioning effectively with business clients, management, and representatives of other parties.
  • Have a basic understanding of enterprise risk management and insurance programs and functions for a professional organization.
  • Contract negotiation experience in a law firm for clients in the professional services field and/or as part of a corporate legal department within a professional services company.
