The Georgia Department of Community Health (DCH) is one of Georgia's four health agencies serving the state's growing population of almost 10 million people. DCH serves as the lead agency for Medicaid, oversees the State Health Benefit Plan (SHBP), and includes Healthcare Facility Regulation, impacting one in four Georgians. Through effective planning, purchasing and oversight, DCH provides access to affordable, quality health care to millions of Georgians, including some of the state's most vulnerable and under-served populations. Six enterprise offices support the work of the agency's four program divisions. DCH employees are based in Atlanta, Cordele and across the state.
DCH is currently seeking qualified candidates for our Associate General Counsel position. This team member will serve as a trusted legal advisor, providing expertise in drafting and interpreting rules, regulations, and legal documents. The role is responsible for analyzing complex legal and policy issues, ensuring compliance with statutes and case law, and guiding process improvement efforts across the department. The Associate General Counsel will also oversee administrative processes to monitor legal compliance, manage cross-unit projects, and apply sound judgment in resolving challenges. This position requires a strong ability to translate legal requirements into practical solutions that support the department's mission and operations. This is a hybrid eligible position that reports directly to the General Counsel, and the performance of these responsibilities may require frequent in-office presence.

Juris Doctorate in a related area from an accredited college or university and license to practice law in the State of Georgia or eligibility to sit for the next Georgia Bar examination followed by Georgia Bar exam passage and licensure to practice law in the State of Georgia within one (1) year of hiring or reciprocity and three (3) years of relevant legal experience; or three (3) years of experience required at the lower-level Attorney 3 (LEP022).
