The listed pay range or pay rate reflects compensation for a full-time equivalent (1.0 FTE) position. Actual compensation may differ depending on assigned hours and position status (e.g., part-time).

Position Overview:
Summary (Basic Purpose of the Job)
Provides legal counsel, for drafting, negotiating, and management of a portfolio of contracts supporting clinical, operation, and administrative functions. Assists with a variety of legal matters impacting Capital Health. Partners closely with executive leadership, clinical teams, and departments to proactively address legal needs and ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations. Ensures contractual arrangements align with organizational strategy, regulatory requirements, and risk tolerance.

Minimum Requirements:
Education: Juris Doctorate from an accredited law school. Membership in at least one state bar with the ability to qualify to practice in New Jersey is required. New Jersey Bar membership is preferred.

Experience:Five years experience in healthcare law, revenue cycle, collections, or regulatory compliance.

  • Strong attention to detail and excellent organizational skills. Excellent written and verbal communication/argument skills. Ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively in a fast-paced environment. Sound judgment in evaluating legal issues and providing practical, business-focused advice.

Special Training: Proficient with Microsoft Office, including Outlook, Word, and Excel.

Essential Functions:
  • Supports the contract review and management process, including use of a contract lifecycle management system.
  • Drafts, reviews, and negotiates a wide array of healthcare-related contracts and ensure alignment with laws and system objectives.
  • Provides legal guidance on contract disputes, terminations, and breach resolution.
  • Advises on complex legal issues related to risk management, privacy (HIPAA), regulatory compliance, governance, and employment law.
  • Delivers practical legal guidance on laws such as Stark Law, Anti-Kickback Statute (AKS), HIPAA, the Freedom of Information Act, and state licensure regulations.
  • Develops and maintains standardized templates and tools to streamline and enhance contract efficiency.
  • Delivers training and resources to internal clients to build legal and contract literacy across the System.
  • Supports legal aspects of major strategic and transactional initiatives.
  • Takes on additional projects and responsibilities as assigned.
