This position in the Legal Regulatory team will work with business, Compliance, and other Legal team members to identify, evaluate, and communicate on regulatory developments that may impact our clients, colleagues, and firm and advise on advocacy and policy perspectives. This opportunity will afford candidates with demonstrated financial services regulatory experience to be part of a culture that inspires the individual and supports him or her.Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide legal advice and guidance to legal, compliance, and business colleagues involving broker-dealer rules and regulations under the federal securities laws, including the Securities Act of 1933, the Exchange Act of 1934, the Investment Advisers Act of 1940, ERISA, and the Commodities Exchange Act.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert on legal regulatory issues affecting broker-dealers and investment advisers to retail clients. Familiarity with regulation from a perspective wealth management, including broker-dealer and investment adviser conduct rules and Regulation Best Interest.
  • Identify new and proposed laws and regulations affecting the financial services industry and partner with government relations and policy colleagues to assess potential impact to the firm.
  • Advise on advocacy strategy, including evaluating advocacy levers, identifying policy positions, drafting comment letters, and leading internal, external, and regulator conversations on emerging policy issues.
  • Develop and execute effective communications on regulatory developments for internal audiences. Identify and collaborate with internal stakeholders on compliance and implementation discussions.
  • Deepen the firm's relationships with securities regulators at the Federal, state, and SRO levels.

Hiring Minimum: $140,400 Hiring Maximum: $239,100

Experience You Need:
  • Juris Doctorate with exceptional academic credentials required
  • Securities regulation experience with a premium on work experience for a regulator or work on regulatory or legislative policy and advocacy in-house or as outside counsel.
  • License to practice law in Missouri or an equivalent state
  • Minimum of five (5) years of progressive responsibility as an attorney in private practice, in the public sector (including with a regulator) or in an in-house counsel capacity
  • Technological aptitude and ability to learn new technologies

What Could Set You Apart:
  • Experience providing legal support to high-risk, complex business projects, as in-house or outside counsel, is highly preferred

*Candidates that live within in a commutable distance from our Tempe, AZ and St. Louis, MO home office locations are expected to work in the office three days per week, with preference for Tuesday through Thursday.
