What You'll Do:
We are currently seeking an Associate level Deputy District Attorney who can perform professional legal work in the prosecution of cases in Denver County Courts representing the People of the State of Colorado.

The Associate Deputy District Attorney position will be responsible for:
  • Maintain a felony caseload, including making appropriate plea offers, litigating motions and preparing cases for trial
  • Preparing and conducting motions hearings and trials on misdemeanor and traffic offenses and, when appropriate, serves as co-counsel on felony cases as well
  • Reviewing criminal case files including police reports, evidence, witness statements, criminal histories and victim input and determines appropriate plea offers for said cases
  • Presenting evidence, argues motions for suppression and other legal motions, conducts jury selection, direct and cross-examination of witnesses and opening and closing arguments in court. Performs research and writing for legal briefs, motions and pleadings
  • Assisting victims of crime through the criminal justice system and communicates with victims and witnesses on cases in which they are involved
  • Periodically serving on call to provide legal advice to law enforcement agencies and answer immediate questions from the public
  • Performing other duties as assigned or requested by the District Attorney or Assistant District Attorney

What You'll Bring
  • The ideal candidate will posses some or all the following skills and experience:
  • Has three three to six years of experience in District Court

Required Minimum Qualifications:

  • Education: Doctor of Jurisprudence Degree or Bachelor of Laws Degree
  • Experience: None
  • Education/Experience Equivalency: No substitution of experience for education is permitted
  • License/Certifications: Possession of a license to practice law in Colorado from the Colorado Supreme Court at the time of application
