Description:
Constangy, Brooks, Smith & Prophete, LLP seeks a talented Associate attorney with 1–3 years of experience to join our nationally recognized Cybersecurity & Data Privacy Practice Group, with a focus on incident response.

This position offers the opportunity to work on sophisticated and time-sensitive cybersecurity matters, advising clients during some of their most critical and vulnerable moments. We offer fully remote work arrangements from anywhere within the contiguous United States, with a preference for candidates located in the Pacific Time Zone.

The ideal candidate will have experience handling data privacy and cybersecurity matters, particularly incident response. Working closely with experienced Partners and other members of our Cybersecurity & Data Privacy team, this Associate will help guide clients through complex cybersecurity incidents, including network intrusions, business email compromises, ransomware attacks, and data breaches.

Given the time-sensitive nature of incident response, successful candidates must demonstrate composure under pressure, exceptional responsiveness, proactive communication, and a commitment to providing outstanding client service.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Work closely with Partners and other team members to advise clients responding to cybersecurity incidents, including network intrusions, ransomware attacks, business email compromises, and data breaches.
  • Assist clients in navigating incident response processes, including coordinating with forensic investigators, insurance carriers, and other relevant stakeholders.
  • Analyze applicable federal and state data breach notification requirements and assist in developing appropriate response strategies.
  • Draft and review legal correspondence, incident response documentation, breach notifications, and other client-facing materials.
  • Provide timely, practical, and responsive legal guidance to clients throughout the incident response process.
  • Manage multiple active matters simultaneously while meeting critical deadlines and maintaining exceptional client service.
  • Collaborate with attorneys and other professionals across the firm's national Cybersecurity & Data Privacy practice.

Qualifications:
  • 1–3 years of experience handling data privacy, cybersecurity, or related legal matters, with incident response experience strongly preferred.
  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school and active admission to practice law in at least one U.S. state or jurisdiction.
  • Excellent academic credentials and strong legal research, writing, analytical, and communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to remain calm under pressure, exercise sound judgment, and communicate proactively during time-sensitive situations.
  • Exceptional responsiveness, attention to detail, and commitment to outstanding client service.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills, including the ability to effectively manage billable hours, competing priorities, and multiple matters simultaneously.
  • Self-motivated and proactive, with the ability to work independently while contributing effectively to a collaborative, team-oriented environment.
  • Candidates located in the Pacific Time Zone are preferred, although qualified applicants throughout the contiguous United States will be considered.
  • CIPP/US, CIPP/E, and/or CISSP certifications are preferred but not required.

Compensation:
This position offers a competitive annualized base salary range of $120,000 – $148,000 nationwide. In addition to base compensation, Associates are eligible for additional performance-based incentives, including billable hour bonuses, providing opportunities to further enhance their total annual compensation.

Actual base compensation within the stated range will be determined by several factors, including geographic location, relevant experience, internal equity, skills, qualifications, and other job-related factors permitted by applicable law.

Only applicants who are actively licensed to practice law in one or more U.S. states or jurisdictions will be considered.

Candidate materials should be submitted online or directly to Nicholas Golden, National Recruiting Manager, at ngolden@constangy.com.

This position is NOT open for submissions by external recruiters or search firms at this time.
