Maynard Nexsen is seeking a highly motivated Business/Litigation Construction Associate to join its fast-growing office in Austin, Texas.

Ideal Candidate – 2-4 years litigation experience

Experience and Background:

  • The ability to work, both collaboratively and independently in a team-oriented environment, on highly complex design/construction projects with national and international clients and issues.
  • Preference with experience in Construction Law and/or Business Litigation.
  • Participate and perform, as appropriate, deposition and trial/arbitration examinations with possible significant travel.
  • Participate in complex, multi-week trials and arbitrations with possible significant travel.
  • Work with and manage high-level technical experts.
  • Complex arbitration experience a plus.
  • Construction and design contract drafting experience, or desire for same, a plus.
  • Participate and manage complex multi-year project forensic and remedial processes with technical experts, and multiple opposing parties, with possible significant travel.
  • Government contracting and experience with Federal Acquisition Regulations (“FAR”) a plus.
  • Preference with prior experience in Federal Courts and State Courts as counsel for litigants or as a law clerk for the court.
  • Draft and review pleadings, discovery and briefs.
  • Strong legal research, analysis and writing skills.
  • Interpret state and federal statutes, court rulings and regulations related to the Firm's practice, and provide legal analysis and conclusions as appropriate.
  • Document file activity in accordance with the Firm and client's policies and procedures
  • Review documents thoroughly for relevancy, accuracy and redaction, and ensure compliance with applicable statutory and regulatory requirements.
  • Communicate with clients in a responsive manner to maintain and further develop client relationships.
  • Develop a working knowledge and proficiency of the Firm's software, internal operations and processes.
  • Business development potential.
  • Strong academic credentials and writing skills are required.
