About the role:
We are hiring a Remote (within the State of California) Associate Eviction Attorney who is eager to take on litigated eviction cases, make an impact, and thrive in a collaborative environment where professional development is a priority!
Responsibilities:
- Represent clients with respect to assigned matters including eviction matters.
- Appear in court and argue motions necessary to completion of both routine and contested eviction and replevin matters.
- Draft, review, and file legal pleadings, motions, and discovery in furtherance of active eviction files.
- Communicate regularly with clients regarding case status.
- Analyze loan files, research and analyze case law; provide advice and recommendations to clients.
- Manage caseload of contested matters on behalf of residential and commercial mortgage lenders and other secured creditors as it relates to eviction matters, provide back up or overflow work on replevin matters.
- Utilize case management system and client sites to properly update and document the status of each account.
Requirements:
Qualifications:
- 3+ years of legal experience including trial work.
- Admitted to practice law in California; (admitted in other states a plus.)
- Preferred: creditor's rights law experience.
- Previous experience with mortgage default/collections legal work and eviction is a plus.
- Experience in drafting pleadings, making court appearances, handling trial work, and case law research.
- Must be able to proficiently handle appearances and all aspects of creditor representation with minimal or no supervision.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational abilities.
- Active and in good standing with the California State Bar.
- Familiarity with case management systems (CaseAware or similar).
- Strong legal research and writing skills with the ability to produce clear, well-reasoned work product
- Ability to manage a high-volume caseload and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
