Description:

Commercial Litigation Associate – Growth Opportunity
Established Florida litigation practice seeks a hard-charging, resourceful, and self-motivated attorney to assist with a growing commercial litigation caseload.

We are looking for someone who can take ownership of assignments, exercise judgment, and move matters forward without constant supervision. This is a strong opportunity for a junior attorney, solo practitioner, small-firm attorney, or litigator seeking to build substantial experience in commercial and business litigation.

Responsibilities:
The associate will handle substantive litigation work, including:
  • Drafting pleadings, motions, memoranda of law, and briefs;
  • Preparing and responding to written discovery;
  • Reviewing document productions;
  • Handling discovery disputes and motion practice;
  • Conducting legal research and analysis;
  • Preparing deposition outlines and assisting with depositions;
  • Communicating with clients and opposing counsel;
  • Managing litigation deadlines and case tasks;
  • Preparing for hearings, mediation, and trial; and
  • Identifying issues and recommending appropriate next steps.

Qualifications:
Candidates should have a solid foundation in civil litigation and strong legal research and writing skills.

Experience with discovery and motion practice is strongly preferred.

The ideal candidate is:
  • A hard charger who takes initiative;
  • Resourceful and solution-oriented;
  • Self-motivated and dependable;
  • Comfortable working independently;
  • Capable of managing multiple matters and deadlines;
  • Strong in legal research and persuasive writing;
  • Willing to tackle difficult and unfamiliar issues; and
  • Interested in developing into a skilled commercial litigator.

Commercial litigation experience is preferred but not required for a candidate with meaningful civil litigation experience and demonstrated ability.

Practice Areas:
Matters may include:
  • Commercial litigation;
  • Business and contract disputes;
  • Corporate and LLC disputes;
  • Construction litigation;
  • Fraud claims;
  • Commercial real estate disputes; and
  • Other complex civil litigation matters.

Growth Opportunity

This is a hands-on position with the opportunity to gain meaningful experience in discovery, motion practice, depositions, hearings, mediation, settlement strategy, and trial preparation.

Responsibility will increase based on demonstrated ability, judgment, reliability, and initiative.

We provide guidance when appropriate, but this is not a position for someone who requires constant direction or extensive day-to-day supervision.

Application Requirements

Applicants should submit:
  • Resume;
  • Brief cover letter; and
  • A writing sample that includes a memorandum of law demonstrating legal research, analysis, and written advocacy skills.

Attorneys who are ambitious, independent, resourceful, and ready to take on challenging work are encouraged to apply.
