Ms. Sauvey is an adjunct professor at Western State College of Law, where she developed the probate clinic and continues to teach every spring. At Sauvey Law Group, APC, Ms. Sauvey works closely with attorneys and staff to ensure that explanations are liberally shared for common procedures and tasks so that you not only know how to perform a task, but why that task is important and how it fits into the greater framework of the case as a whole.

Job Description:
Sauvey Law Group, APC is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Associate Attorney to join our growing team.

As an Associate Attorney, you will work closely with Ms. Sauvey to provide exceptional legal services to our clients. This is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious attorney who is passionate about probate and elder law and seeking to develop their skills in a supportive and collaborative environment.

Typical Day-to-Day:
A typical day in this role will include facilitating some aspects of trust, probate, conservatorship, and guardianship administration and litigation - many of which are repetitive tasks and some of which are unique to the case itself. There will be limited opportunities to assist with estate planning, though this is not a substantial part of the job description. As soon as possible, you will be making court appearances, communicating with opposing counsel, communicating with clients, and preparing legal documents to advance client cases and objectives. Ms. Sauvey is regularly available for questions or explanations to ensure that you are adequately supported in your role.

Responsibilities may include:

Conducting legal research and analysis on various probate issues
Assisting with the administration of trusts and probate estates
Communicating effectively with clients to understand their needs and objectives
Collaborating with team members to develop and implement effective legal strategies
Representing clients in probate court proceedings as needed
Propounding and responding to discovery
Engaging in litigation strategies and facilitating litigated matters
Conducting depositions

Qualifications:

Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school
Admission to the California State Bar in good standing
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Attention to detail and strong organizational skills
Strong attention to detail is required
