Position Overview:
We are seeking a highly motivated, entrepreneurial Associate Attorney to join our growing team, with primary focus in:
  • Business & Corporate Law
  • Criminal Defense
  • Family Law (divorce, child custody)
  • General Civil Litigation

We will teach & train in any & all areas you are not experienced in

You will work in a flexible, high‑earning “eat what you kill" on a billable hours basis (with clients & work provided by the firm) model, with the ability to also build your own client list & book of business, set your schedule (while maintaining full-time hours), and work flexibly and remotely at times, if you desire.

Responsibilities:
  • Represent clients in criminal matters—including investigations, pre‑trial, plea negotiations, trials, and appeals.
  • Advise and advocate for clients in family law cases involving divorce, custody, property division, and child and spousal support.
  • Handle business and corporate legal matters: entity formation, governance, contracts, mergers & acquisitions, regulatory compliance; support business‑oriented clients.
  • Manage client relationships, case files, deadlines, and legal strategy independently, with highly significant assistance from other firm attorneys.

Qualifications:
Required:
  • Licensed to practice law in Utah.
  • A self‑starter, highly self‑motivated, passion for the law, and a strong work ethic.
  • Ability to work independently, set and meet client and billable objectives under limited supervision, within an organizational culture of civil and friendly collaboration & a NO-micro-management desired objective.
  • Excellent communications & interpersonal skills that can and will translate into a high degree of salesmanship-ability and client confidence.

Preferred:
  • 1 to 3 years of experience in one or more of these practice areas: criminal defense, family law, business/corporate law.
  • Demonstrated experience and success in criminal defense, family law (divorce/custody), and/or business and corporate law.
  • Excellent legal writing and client‑communication skills.

Compensation & Structure

  • Probationary period (first six months): independent contractor basis, paid to successful candidate at $80/hour (~$166,400/year if billing 40 hours/week).
  • Ability to set your own hours and schedule, so long as full-time work schedule and assigned work and client needs are all met.
  • Virtual work allowed at times, with flexibility as needed for client or court obligations.
  • “Eat what you kill” revenue model (with clients & work provided to you by the firm) where you keep a high percentage of revenue that you generate.
