Overview:
We are seeking a motivated Associate Attorney with 1 to 3 years of legal experience to join our dynamic legal team. This role offers an exciting opportunity to engage in a diverse range of practice areas, including insurance coverage, insurance litigation, estate planning, estate litigation, guardianship, and probate. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong research and writing skills, proficiency with LexisNexis, and have appeared in or argued before the Courts throughout the New York City area. This is an opportunity to learn and grow in two different areas of law, with the opportunity to create your own book of business as well, boosting your compensation for every client brought to the firm.

We are a small Long Island firm that focuses on both employee work/life balance and client happiness above billable hours. In addition to standard PTO, our office closes at 1pm on Fridays for "summer Fridays" from Memorial Day to Labor Day. We are family focused, and willing to accommodate the needs of raising a family, including flexible hours and remote work.

Duties:
  • Draft pleadings, discovery responses, motions and appellate briefs.
  • Draft estate planning documents including trusts, wills, powers of attorney and other estate related documents.
  • Review and analyze insurance policies and documents and render coverage opinions.
  • Appearances in Supreme Court and Surrogate Court.
  • Prepare for and take depositions.
  • Support attorneys in managing client relationships by providing timely updates and ensuring client needs are met effectively.
  • Participate in negotiations with opposing counsel to achieve favorable outcomes for clients while maintaining professionalism and integrity.
  • Maintain meticulous records of case activities and ensure compliance with all deadlines.

Qualifications:
  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school with active bar admission.
  • One to three years of relevant legal experience across multiple practice areas listed above.
  • Excellent writing skills demonstrated through effective legal drafting of pleadings, memoranda, and correspondence.
  • Experience with litigation processes and courtroom procedures is preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to negotiate effectively while maintaining professionalism.

Pay: $80,000.00 - $95,000.00 per year
