Role Description:
As an Associate Attorney in our Orleans office, you'll join a team who values hard work, and encourages a healthy work/life balance. As part of our compensation package, we offer salaried compensation, bonuses paid for attaining billing targets, incentive payments for originating business, health, dental, and vision insurance, a 401(k) plan, and we match your elective deferrals to the 401k plan. Profit sharing contributions to the 401(k) plan, in addition to matching are also part of the compensation package at the discretion of the firm.

We are looking for an associate attorney to help be apart of a strong, dynamic team, and fulfill the following responsibilities of the associate attorney position:
  • Takes the Lead. This position requires the associate attorney to be capable of taking the lead attorney position on divorce and family law cases that are within the candidate's range of capability. An associate attorney range of capability is assessed by the team on an ongoing basis and depends on the candidate's trial experience and substantive training. No one is assigned a case which is beyond their skill set without a partner who is capable of handling the case. Lead attorneys appear in court on behalf of the client and, if necessary, lead the trial team.
  • Supports the Lead. This position requires the associate attorney to be capable of working with another attorney in tandem on a case. Each case at MIF PC is handled by two attorneys. The candidate must be able to collaborate with the other attorney and the paralegal assigned to the case. Collaboration means helping shape strategy, drafting pleadings and legal memoranda, attending court hearings solo or with the lead attorney, and coordinating trial preparation.
  • Is an Ideal Team Player. At MIF PC, we work assiduously to cultivate a team culture where everyone aspires to be humble, hungry, and smart at all times. We take our culture seriously and we expect that candidate share the same ethos. Except for hiring/firing/business organization and personnel issues, there's no hierarchy between attorneys, paralegals, and the firm administrator.
  • Develops Business and Assists with Marketing. While the associate attorney position has no business development requirements, the ideal candidate recognizes the importance of entrepreneurship in originating cases and cooperates with the firm principal on marketing to promote the candidate and the firm as a whole. This means providing constructive feedback on electronic media marketing on a monthly basis.
  • Communicates Effectively. An ideal candidate will possess excellent written and verbal communication skills which are necessary for executing case strategy; collaborating with teammates; and ensuring that clients' needs and expectations are being met.

Pay: From $85,000.00 per year
