Description:
Associate Attorney – Real Estate Litigation & Creditors' Rights

Why Consider This Opportunity?
This position offers substantially more hands-on experience than many traditional entry-level associate positions. Associates have opportunities to appear in court, interact directly with clients, negotiate matters, draft substantive pleadings, and assume responsibility for cases early in their careers.

The firm emphasizes quality, productivity, accountability, and results without traditional large-firm billable-hour expectations.

For motivated attorneys, the compensation structure also provides opportunities to increase overall earnings based upon performance, productivity, and results.

An established Baltimore County law firm is seeking an Associate Attorney to join its real estate and creditors' rights practice.

We welcome candidates at different stages of their careers, including recent law school graduates, candidates awaiting Maryland Bar admission, newly admitted attorneys, judicial clerks, and attorneys with prior practice experience.

This position offers an opportunity for an attorney who wants substantive legal experience, courtroom exposure, direct client interaction, and meaningful responsibility early in their career. More experienced candidates will have the opportunity to independently manage matters and work directly with established clients.

The firm's practice includes real estate litigation, landlord/tenant matters, collections, foreclosure proceedings, and related creditors' rights matters.

The Position:
The Associate Attorney will have meaningful responsibility for assigned matters, including:
  • Appearing in Maryland District and Circuit Courts
  • Handling landlord/tenant and real estate litigation matters
  • Managing collection matters from demand through judgment and enforcement
  • Handling foreclosure proceedings and related litigation
  • Drafting complaints, motions, responses, settlement agreements, correspondence, and other court filings
  • Negotiating with opposing counsel and resolving contested matters
  • Communicating directly with clients
  • Conducting legal research and preparing legal analysis
  • Managing assigned cases, deadlines, and court appearances
  • Working closely with experienced attorneys and professional support staff

New attorneys will receive supervision and guidance while developing the skills necessary to independently manage matters. Attorneys with prior experience will be given greater responsibility and autonomy based upon their experience and demonstrated abilities.

Qualifications:
Qualifications
  • J.D. from an accredited law school
  • Maryland Bar admission, pending admission, or eligibility for admission
  • Entry-level and experienced attorneys are encouraged to apply
  • Strong legal writing, analytical, organizational, and communication skills
  • Sound judgment and attention to detail
  • Ability to manage multiple matters and deadlines
  • Interest in litigation, real estate law, landlord/tenant matters, collections, foreclosure, and creditors' rights
  • Prior experience in these practice areas is preferred but not required

The ideal candidate is motivated, responsive, organized, accountable, and willing to take ownership of assigned matters. We are seeking an attorney who wants to develop strong practical legal skills and grow into an increasingly independent role.

In addition to base salary, the firm offers performance-based additional compensation opportunities that reward productivity, results, and contributions to the firm's overall performance.

Benefits include paid time off, CLE and professional development support, and payment of applicable bar-related expenses
