Description:
Tillman & Tillman & Associates, P.C. is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Associate Attorney to join our Chicago-based law firm. The firm primarily represents individuals and families in family law, probate and estate matters, and residential and commercial real estate transactions and disputes.The Associate Attorney will work directly with attorneys, clients, courts, opposing counsel, and other professionals to manage a diverse caseload. The ideal candidate is a strong legal writer and communicator who is comfortable handling matters independently while also working collaboratively with the firm.
This position provides an opportunity to develop practical experience across multiple areas of law, with increasing responsibility for client representation, legal research, drafting, negotiations, and court appearances.
Primary Practice Areas:
Family Law
Responsibilities may include:
- Drafting and reviewing pleadings, motions, discovery, orders, and other court documents.
- Handling matters involving divorce, allocation of parental responsibilities, parenting time, child support, maintenance, and related issues.
- Preparing clients for court appearances, hearings, prove-ups, and other proceedings.
- Appearing in court on behalf of clients as appropriate.
- Conducting legal research and analyzing Illinois statutes, court rules, and case law.
- Negotiating with opposing counsel and working toward resolution of contested matters.
- Assisting with settlement agreements, marital settlement agreements, parenting plans, and other agreements.
- Probate & Estate Matters
Responsibilities may include:
- Assisting with probate administration and estate matters.
- Preparing petitions, motions, notices, orders, affidavits, and other probate documents.
- Representing executors, administrators, heirs, beneficiaries, and other interested parties.
- Assisting with guardianship matters involving minors and adults.
- Researching and addressing issues involving wills, trusts, estates, and beneficiary rights.
- Communicating with probate courts, clerks, financial institutions, insurance companies, and other third parties.
- Assisting clients with estate administration and related legal requirements.
- Real Estate
Responsibilities may include:
- Representing buyers and sellers in residential and commercial real estate transactions.
- Reviewing and drafting real estate contracts and related documents.
- Reviewing title commitments, surveys, disclosures, and closing documents.
- Communicating with clients, real estate agents, lenders, title companies, and opposing counsel.
- Preparing clients for closing and addressing issues that arise during the transaction.
- Assisting with deeds, title issues, liens, payoff matters, and other real estate concerns.
- Handling real estate disputes, including matters involving ownership, contracts, and landlord-tenant issues.
Required:
- Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school.
- Admission to practice law in Illinois and in good standing with the Illinois Attorney Registration and Disciplinary Commission.
- Strong legal research and writing skills.
