Overview:We are seeking a dynamic and dedicated Associate Attorney with at least 2 years of experience to join our legal team. This role offers an exciting opportunity to join a growing employee-side employment litigation law firm with great opportunity for advancement. As an Associate Attorney, you will play a vital role in providing comprehensive legal services, conducting legal research, drafting and responding to written discovery, interviewing witnesses, and other legal tasks. The successful candidate will also have opportunities to take and defend depositions and attend hearings commensurate with their experience and skill level. The ideal candidate will bring strong research skills, excellent writing abilities, attention to detail, and a proactive approach to supporting our clients. The successful candidate will primarily focus their practice on employment discrimination litigation, but will also work on some personal injury and eminent domain matters.
Duties:
- Conduct thorough legal research utilizing LexisNexis to support case preparation and legal analysis across multiple practice areas.
- Draft clear, accurate legal documents including briefs, memos, contracts, pleadings, and other filings with precision and attention to detail.
- Preparing discovery requests, responses, and assisting with trial preparation.
- Participate in and conduct client meetings.
- Attend depositions and court hearings as necessary based on skill and experience level.
- Stay current with evolving laws and regulations through ongoing research efforts to ensure compliance and effective counsel.
- Collaborate closely with team members to deliver exceptional service while fostering a positive work environment focused on continuous learning.
Qualifications:
- Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school; admission to the West Virginia State Bar is required.
- Demonstrated experience or strong interest in multiple practice areas such as personal injury law, employment law, and eminent domain law.
- Proficiency with legal research platforms including LexisNexis and Westlaw; ability to efficiently locate relevant case law and statutes.
- Excellent writing skills with the ability to produce clear and persuasive legal documents.
- Strong research capabilities complemented by analytical thinking and problem-solving skills.
- Effective negotiation skills coupled with the ability to communicate complex legal concepts clearly to clients and team members.
- Detail-oriented with exceptional organizational skills to manage multiple cases simultaneously under tight deadlines.
