Job Summary:A Troy, Michigan Divorce & Family Law Firm is a highly esteemed Divorce & Family law firm, serving southeast Michigan. We are seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable part time Associate Attorney to join our legal team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong foundation in litigation, court appearances and divorce and/or family law.
This role requires excellent negotiation skills, legal research capabilities, and the strong ability to draft legal documents effectively. The Associate Attorney will work collaboratively with senior attorney and clients to provide comprehensive legal services while ensuring compliance with applicable laws, court rules, rules of evidence and rules of legal ethics.
Ideal candidate has brains and balls, yet still teachable. If it's a good fit, the position can expand to full time.
Duties:
- Conduct thorough legal research using tools such as LexisNexis and Westlaw to support case preparation
- Draft and review legal documents including contracts, pleadings, discovery request, discovery responses, motions, and briefs
- Represent clients in negotiations, litigation, mediation and arbitration hearings
- Provide clients with legal advice on pending matters and assist clients in navigating the divorce process
- Sending subpoenas and reviewing docs received
- Stay informed about changes in laws
- Collaborate with clients to understand their needs and develop effective legal strategies
- Maintain organized case files and ensure timely communication with clients regarding case developments
Experience:
- Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school
- Admission to the State Bar of Michigan
- Experience in a law office setting is preferred, with a focus on litigation
- Strong writing skills for drafting legal documents and correspondence
- Proven ability to conduct detailed legal research and analysis
- Excellent negotiation skills with a client-focused approach
