Job Overview:We are seeking a part-time Associate Attorney with a minimum of 5 years experience in probate and trust administration. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, highly organized, self-motivated, and able to manage client matters with both technical skill and empathy. This role is well-suited for an attorney looking to refine their practice in probate and trusts while working a flexible schedule. This is a hybrid position that requires two days in office each week.
Duties:
- Draft, review, and file probate petitions, pleadings, and related court documents.
- Assist with trust administration, including preparation of notices, accountings, and distributions.
- Conduct legal research and draft memoranda on probate and trust issues.
- Communicate with clients, beneficiaries, and fiduciaries with professionalism and sensitivity.
- Represent clients in probate hearings and related court proceedings (as needed).
- Maintain case files, track deadlines, and ensure compliance with court requirements.
- Collaborate with the principal attorney and support staff to move cases efficiently.
- Meet with existing and potential clients
Requirements:
- Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
- Active license to practice law in the State of Washington (in good standing).
- 5+ years of experience in probate, estate planning, or trust administration preferred (willing to train the right candidate).
- Strong legal research, writing, and organizational skills.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to handle sensitive matters with discretion and empathy.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and case management software (experience with Clio is a plus).
