Description:
Job Summary:Small West Los Angeles insurance defense firm (founded in 2000) seeks a California licensed associate attorney (1-5 years) with strong writing and organizational skills to join its civil litigation group handing the defense of construction defect, personal injury, premises liability, and product liability cases. The firm provides a support, instruction, and hands-on experience in a casual office environment. This position offers the opportunity to handle own files, write and argue motions, mediate, and take and defend depositions. Prior deposition experience and electronic billing experience is preferred but not required. The position is a full-time, salaried position, that starts as in-office but can be transitioned to hybrid after an introductory period. Benefits include health care, 401K, bonus for billing over the minimum billable hours, paid Bar dues and MCLE, paid parking or reimbursement for public transportation, and individual window offices. Salary is commensurate with experience relevant to our firm.
Duties:
- Conduct thorough legal research using Westlaw to support case preparation and strategy development.
- Draft legal documents including pleadings, motions, and briefs.
- Manage a diverse caseload of insurance defense cases across multiple practice areas such as construction defect, products liability, and premises liability.
- Negotiate settlements and legal agreements on behalf of clients while maintaining professional integrity.
- Assist in litigation processes by preparing discovery requests, analyzing documents, and representing clients in court proceedings when necessary.
- Collaborate with the partners and support staff within the law office to facilitate efficient case management.
Experience:
- Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
- Admission to the California state bar with active licensing status.
- Excellent legal writing skills.
- Electronic billing experience preferred.
- Construction defect insurance defense experience preferred.
- Strong negotiation skills coupled with excellent analytical abilities for complex case handling.
Pay: $110,000.00 - $150,000.00 per year
