Position Overview:The Associate Attorney is responsible for managing a portfolio of litigation under the supervision of senior attorneys, providing high‐quality legal counsel, advocacy, and client service. This role involves drafting substantive legal documents, conducting research, appearing in court and administrative hearings, and collaborating with support staff to advance clients' interests effectively.
Key Responsibilities:
Case Management &Advocacy
- Handle various phases of civil litigation from pleadings through settlement;
- Appear in court, depositions, and mediations.
- Develop case strategy and maintain regular client communication.
- Be able to work towards and handle a case load of 30+ cases under the guidance of a managing attorney
Perform legal research using LexisNexis, and other resources; synthesize case law, statutes, and regulations into memoranda and client advisories.
- Draft reports and stipulations; engage in motion practice; and prepare briefs, including mediation briefs.
- Review, edit, and finalize correspondence.
- Coordinate with paralegals, legal assistants, and support staff to ensure accurate file management and deadline compliance.
- Mentor clerks or joiner attorneys and provide feedback on drafting, courtroom technique, and client interaction.
Participate in firm‐wide initiatives, committee work, and other special projects a assigned.
Required Qualifications:
- Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school.
- Active membership in the California State Bar.
- 3 - 5 years of relevant litigation experience in a law firm.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, PDF software, and legal research platforms.
- Strong drafting, analytical, and oral advocacy skills.
- Excellent organizational and prioritization skills and ability to manage multiple matters simultaneously.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in employment law, class actions, and/or PAGA Actions
- Familiarity with case management systems (e.g., FileVine), and Document Generation
