Overview:We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Associate Attorney to join our legal team. This role offers an exciting opportunity to work across a diverse range of legal practice areas, including estate planning, family law, Michigan law and regulations, litigation, landlord-tenant law, and a big focus on Criminal defense. The ideal candidate will possess strong research and writing skills, demonstrate excellent negotiation abilities, and have experience with legal drafting and administrative tasks. Responsibilities:
- Conduct comprehensive legal research using tools such as LexisNexis and Westlaw to support case development and client advisement
- Draft legal documents including pleadings, contracts, memoranda, and correspondence with precision and clarity
- Assist in managing cases across multiple practice areas by preparing filings, organizing case files, and tracking deadlines
- Support attorneys during negotiations, mediations, and court proceedings to ensure effective advocacy
- Review and analyze legal documents related to estate planning, environmental regulations, immigration status, family matters, securities transactions, workers' compensation claims, personal injury cases, tribal laws, patent applications, and landlord-tenant disputes
- Maintain detailed records of research findings and case developments in the law office management system
- Engage in ongoing legal research to stay current with evolving laws and regulations relevant to various practice areas
Qualifications:
- Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school with active bar admission or eligibility to sit for the bar exam
- Proven experience or internship in multiple legal practice areas such as estate planning, environmental law, immigration law, or litigation
- Strong research skills utilizing LexisNexis and Westlaw platforms for effective case analysis
- Excellent legal writing skills with the ability to produce clear and persuasive documents
- Demonstrated ability to draft contracts, pleadings, and other legal instruments accurately
- Experience with legal administrative tasks including case management and document organization
- Exceptional negotiation skills with a proactive approach to problem-solving
- Familiarity with legal procedures across various jurisdictions is preferred but not required
