Overview:A Fairbanks & North Pole Attorney at Law, a new firm with Alaska offices in North Pole and Delta Junction, seeks an associate attorney to join our state law practice team and grow our capabilities in Civil Litigation and Appellate Work, Administrative Law, Real and Personal Property, Estate Planning and Probate, Contracts, Family Law, Employment and Labor Law, and Business Law. This job is for our Delta Junction office.
Alaska has no income tax or sales tax. Enjoy living in the Land of the Midnight Sun with near 24-hour light in the summer months, Delta Junction is in an unincorporated borough without real estate taxes or sales taxes. You can work in North Pole and live in Fairbanks or Salcha for an easy commute, year round.
Interested lawyers must be graduates of an ABA-accredited law school and possess an Alaska law license or be able to obtain one through reciprocity or by examination. Any experience level is eligible to apply and interview with us. Candidates must be able to communicate effectively with leads, clients, opposing counsel, and adjudicators through written or oral advocacy. Associates will manage their own time and case load with some supervision and guidance by the senior attorney. Training and mentorship opportunities are provided. License and membership fees are paid by PLG or reimbursed if paid within 6 months of employment with PLG.
Associates are expected to bill 1400 hours annually, with 65 percent billed at an hourly rate and 20 percent billed by flat fee. The remaining hours can be allocated at 10 percent for marketing and lead generation, and 5 percent for pro bono work. Our salary range starts at $85,000, depending on experience, with a tax-free signing bonus, employer contribution for health benefits, and other fringe benefits available by negotiation. We pay state bar dues, CLE to meet required hours, and legal malpractice insurance premiums. PLG pays annual tax-free bonuses and annual salary increases. We provide sick leave, paid time off, and paid state and federal holidays as designated. We may reimburse some travel expenses to Alaska or to relocate from within Alaska. We offer a blended work atmosphere with in-office and remote opportunities available supported through our various online applications and platforms. PLG supports new technologies and a paperless workflow.
Core duties:
- Conduct legal research and analysis to support case preparation and strategy development.
- Draft and review legal documents, including contracts, pleadings, and motions.
- Negotiate settlements and agreements on behalf of clients.
- Represent clients in court proceedings and administrative hearings as required.
- Maintain accurate records and documentation related to cases and client interactions.
- Collaborate with senior attorneys on complex cases and provide legal administrative support as needed.
- Stay updated on changes in laws and regulations relevant to practice areas.
Requirements:
- Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
- Admission to the bar in the relevant jurisdiction.
- Excellent writing skills with the ability to produce clear and concise legal documents.
- Negotiation skills with a focus on achieving favorable outcomes for clients.
- Prior experience in a law office setting is preferred but not mandatory.
- Strong analytical skills with attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple cases simultaneously.
- Effective communication skills for interacting with clients, colleagues, and court personnel.
