Longman Jakuback, APLC is a well-established and growing medium-sized law firm in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. We are seeking an experienced and compassionate Family Law Attorney to join our legal team. The ideal candidate will be a Louisiana-licensed attorney with a passion for family law and a commitment to providing high-quality representation to our diverse clientele. - Manage a diverse family law caseload from intake to resolution.
- Provide legal counsel and representation to clients on all family law matters, including divorce, child custody and support, spousal support, community property partitions, and adoptions.
- Prepare and draft legal documents, such as pleadings, motions, and settlement agreements.
- Represent clients in court hearings, depositions, and mediation sessions.
- Conduct legal research and stay current with Louisiana family law statutes and regulations.
- Negotiate settlements and advocate on behalf of clients.
- Maintain clear and consistent communication with clients, opposing counsel, and court personnel.
- Collaborate with the firm's paralegals and support staff.
- Handle emotionally charged situations with empathy and discretion.
Experience:
- Between 2-8 years as a practicing attorney, with a focus on Louisiana family law.
- Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
- Active and in good standing with the Louisiana State Bar Association.
- Strong knowledge of Louisiana family law, court procedures, and regulations.
- Previous experience in a law office setting is preferred but not mandatory; internships or clerkships will not be considered for this position.
- Strong writing skills with experience in legal drafting across various practice areas.
- Proven experience advocating in court and negotiating favorable settlements.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively within a team environment.
