Description:

Build your legal career with meaningful courtroom experience, direct client relationships, and a supportive team.

Muter Law Office is a small, established law firm in Baraboo, Wisconsin, seeking an associate attorney interested in family law and litigation.

We offer an opportunity to develop your own practice while working alongside experienced attorneys who are available to provide guidance, mentorship, and support.

Whether you are a newer attorney looking for meaningful courtroom experience or an experienced attorney interested in transitioning into family law, we would welcome the opportunity to speak with you.

Why Join Our Firm?
We believe attorneys should have the opportunity to practice law, develop their professional judgment, and maintain a life outside the office.

As an associate, you'll enjoy:
  • Meaningful legal experience: Work directly with clients, negotiate cases, appear in court, and participate in hearings and trials.
  • An established client base: Focus on representing clients and developing your legal skills rather than building a practice from scratch.
  • Mentorship and independence: Receive guidance and support while gradually developing responsibility for your own caseload.
  • A comfortable working environment: Join a small, approachable office that values professionalism without unnecessary formality.
  • Earning potential: Benefit directly from your work through a transparent, production-based compensation structure.
  • Schedule flexibility: Enjoy reasonable flexibility while meeting your professional responsibilities and client needs.

What You'll Do:
  • Represent clients in divorce, custody and placement, child support, and other family-law matters.
  • Communicate directly with clients and develop case strategies.
  • Negotiate settlements and work collaboratively with opposing counsel.
  • Prepare pleadings, conduct discovery, and participate in hearings and trials.
  • Manage an assigned caseload with support from experienced attorneys and office staff.

Who We're Looking for:
Our ideal candidate is an attorney who enjoys working with people, wants to develop litigation skills, and appreciates a collaborative working environment.

Qualifications include:
  • Wisconsin law license or eligibility for Wisconsin licensure.
  • Strong communication, research, and writing skills.
  • Sound professional judgment and a willingness to learn.
  • Interest in family law and litigation.
  • One to three years of legal experience is preferred, but not required. Family-law experience is helpful, but we are willing to train an attorney with the right attitude and interest.

Newly licensed attorneys and attorneys transitioning from other practice areas are encouraged to apply.
