Gertsburg Licata is seeking a motivated Family Law & Domestic Relations Associate Attorney to join our growing litigation team. Your Role and Contribution
As a member of our Family Law & Domestic Relations team, you will independently manage a diverse caseload while working closely with other attorneys and staff to provide exceptional legal representation.
You will serve as a trusted advisor to clients throughout every stage of their matter, helping them navigate emotionally sensitive situations while protecting their legal interests. This role offers meaningful responsibility, courtroom experience, and the opportunity to build lasting client relationships and contribute to the continued growth of the practice.
Key Responsibilities:
- Represent clients in a broad range of Family Law and Domestic Relations matters, including:
- Divorce and dissolution
- Child custody and parenting time
- Child support
- Spousal support
- Property division
- Post-decree modifications
- Contempt proceedings
- Domestic violence and civil protection orders, when applicable
- Manage cases from initial consultation through resolution, including settlement or trial.
- Draft pleadings, motions, legal memoranda, separation agreements, parenting plans, and other legal documents.
- Conduct legal research and develop effective litigation strategies.
- Attend hearings, mediations, depositions, settlement conferences, and trials.
- Build and maintain strong client relationships through consistent communication and exceptional service.
- Collaborate with attorneys and support staff to achieve the best possible outcomes for clients.
- Participate in networking and business development opportunities to support the continued growth of the practice.
Qualifications:
- Active Ohio Bar License in good standing.
- Minimum of three (3) years of Family Law and Domestic Relations litigation experience.
- Experience managing cases independently from intake through resolution.
- Strong courtroom, negotiation, mediation, and advocacy skills.
- Excellent legal writing, analytical, and communication abilities.
- Exceptional organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to balance multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- A client-focused mindset with empathy, professionalism, and sound judgment.
- Entrepreneurial spirit with a desire to contribute to the continued growth of the practice.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Trial experience in Family Law and Domestic Relations matters.
- Experience negotiating complex property settlements and parenting disputes.
- Established relationships within the Northeast Ohio legal community are a plus.
- Business development experience or an interest in growing a personal practice is welcomed.
