Job Summary:Creditor's Rights law firm seeking an individual to fill the Associate Attorney position for our California practice. Licensure is required with admission to the California Bar. This position is a state level attorney whose focus will be attending court, signing pleadings, settling cases, and various other attorney tasks as assigned. The ideal candidate will handle all aspects of litigation and should welcome the challenges of a dynamic legal environment and be open to work-related travel.
Must be energetic, self-directed, and capable of managing his or her own caseload. Responsibilities will include a wide variety of tasks associated with litigating debt collection matters. While litigation is the key role, we seek attorneys who can independently engage in risk analysis and develop strategies that adhere to state and federal rules and regulations, and compliance standards.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

- Represents clients in pre-suit and post-judgement matters.
- Reviews correspondence and file information to determine if lawsuit or motion appropriate for filing.
- Reviews answers and prepares responses to discovery and dispositive motions.
- Manages all aspects of preparing for and appearing as counsel at hearings and trials.
- Attends court settings throughout the state of California through virtual appearances.
- Attends physical court settings as needed in courts in close proximity.
- Provides analysis and advises on legal and regulatory risks.
- Writes, reviews, and edits reports, opinions, correspondence, and other documents.
- Other responsibilities as assigned.
- This position can be hybrid or remote based on location.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Background in litigation.
- Knowledge of federal, state, and local laws with experience in collection law and/or courtroom experience.
- Ability to work independently.
- Managing shifting priorities in a fast-paced environment is required.
- Knowledge of the FDCPA/FCRA/TCPA is a plus.
Education and Experience:
- Requires a Juris Doctor degree in law
- Bar admission in California
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Frequently required to talk or hear, and use hand to type, handle, or touch objects.
- Regularly required to stand and walk, and may be required to stoop, bend, or reach above the shoulders.
- Must be able to occasionally lift up to 25 pounds at times.
- Must be able to access and navigate each department at the organization's facilities.
Work Environment:
The position is remote. We are also accepting applicants located in Texas in which case periodic time would be spent in the Dallas office for in person signing.
Schedule:
8am-5pm CST Monday through Friday with flexibility to meet business needs.
