What You'll Be Doing:
As a member of the Town Attorney's Office, the Assistant Town Attorney works with the Town Attorney, Deputy Town Attorney, and other attorney and non-attorney staff to provide legal services for the Town of Leesburg. The focus of this position is on labor relations and employment matters, including collective bargaining, employee discipline, related investigations, hearings and arbitrations, as well other civil legal matters that affect the Town. The Assistant Town Attorney advises the Town Manager, Department Directors, and Town staff in assigned areas of the law.
Effective date of hire is anticipated to be in September 2026.*

Required Qualifications:
- Possess a Juris Doctorate from an accredited law school, a license to practice law in the Commonwealth of Virginia, and be in good standing with the Virginia State Bar;
- Minimum of five (5) years of experience practicing law in one or more of the following areas:
- Labor or employment law;
- Conducting hearings or arbitrations;
- Negotiation and drafting of complex legal agreements.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Six (6) or more years practicing law;
- Local government law experience;
- Familiarity with collective bargaining.
