Job Overview:The Assistant Public Defender will work at the pleasure of the District Public Defender and will be under his/her direct supervision. The attorney will assume the duties and responsibilities of representing indigent persons for whom the District Public Defender has been appointed as counsel by the Court.
Key Responsibilities:
We are seeking an Assistant Public Defender for our Macon County office located in Lafayette, Tennessee. This position includes regular court responsibilities, including:
- Juvenile Court: every other Thursday
- General Sessions Court: every other Tuesday and every Wednesday
- Criminal Court: approximately 6-8 weeks per year
- Drug Court: every Friday
Minimum Qualifications:
Currently licensed to practice law in the State of Tennessee
