Description:
We are looking for someone who wants to help indigent people charged with criminal offenses and gain courtroom and jury trial experience. The attorney would be handling a misdemeanor caseload and be assigned to a specific courtroom with a courtroom partner. No criminal law experience is necessary as training is provided. We currently have 6 felony assistant, 1 juvenile assistant, and 2 misdemeanor assistant positions. We also have an investigator and 4 support staff members. The office is open Monday through Friday from 8:30-4:30 and it is rare for employees to work late. There is a rotating Sunday bond court split evenly between the 9 attorneys. There is no residency requirement and no on-call expectation. This position qualifies for federal student loan repayment programs. Benefits are provided through Vermilion County and include health, dental, retirement, and more.Starting Salary is $70,000 - $72,500
