A Not-for-Profit Healthcare Organization, a nationally recognized, not-for-profit, charitable,
healthcare organization based in Columbus, Ohio, is seeking an Assistant
General Counsel with 3-6 years of employment law, to join its Office of
the General Counsel. This position will report to the Senior Assistant
General Counsel for Labor and Employment. The Assistant General Counsel
will provide legal advice on employment-related legal matters for the
system including our 15 hospitals and 35,000 employees and will provide
advice and counsel on employment law issues including hiring,
discipline, termination and pay. The successful candidate will provide
legal and business counsel to the HR team and the business regarding
associate relations matters including taking the lead and providing
legal advice on internal investigations. The successful candidate will
defend employment related claims and respond to administrative claims
from governmental agencies. In addition to general employment matters,
this position will work in a team atmosphere and assist with other
business units to learn and support the system in various legal areas.

role will require you to have high emotional intelligence, a strong

role will focus on representing the organization in its labor and
employment matters, A Not-for-Profit Healthcare Organization is a matrixed organization and the
successful candidate will be exposed to all areas of law and all
business units across the organization, requiring a nimble and highly
motivated attorney who is willing to dive in to a variety of complex
matters.
This position requires an individual with an undergraduate degree and Juris Doctor degree from a recognized national school of law with a superior academic record and a license to practice in the State of Ohio (or will become license within 12 months of employment and has some familiarity with Ohio law). The qualified candidate will have significant employment law experience, both counseling and litigation, either in a law firm, governmental agency or in-house legal department (or combination thereof).

Specialized Knowledge
Requires
a minimum of at least 4 years of experience in a law firm, governmental
agency, or in-house legal department (or combination thereof) with
significant experience in corporate, transactional and healthcare
regulatory law. Strong executive presence and interpersonal skills are
required to ensure leadership receives meaningful legal guidance that
ensures appropriate risk mitigation for all legal matters.
