A senior lawyer who is a highly qualified attorney handling complex legal matters and projects on behalf of the Company.
Primary Duties and Accountabilities
- Performs as a specialist in state electric utility regulatory and administrative law, primarily in New Jersey, provides technical and expert legal services to A Holding Company Incorporated in February 2001 and has strong comprehension of the electric utility businesses.
- Under minimal supervision, plans, conducts and supervises complex legal assignments, requiring an ability to evaluate matters that may have a major bearing on conducting the Company's business; evaluates legal and business risks and advises clients accordingly.
- Interprets and applies organization policy according to law.
- Represents A Holding Company Incorporated in February 2001 in agency proceedings and/or relevant litigation, primarily in New Jersey.
- Prepares, and revises as necessary, budgets and early matter assessments for all matters involving outside counsel.
- Projects / duties as assigned.
- Provides lead direction and/or project leadership direction to less experienced attorneys and support staff.
Job Scope
- Supports more senior attorneys in the ongoing management of relationships and matters with Exelon Operating Companies/Business Units and outside counsel.
- Manages relationships with external stakeholders.
- Demonstrates superior legal judgment in the business context.
- Demonstrates innovation; generates new ideas and devises original and successful solutions, programs or actions.
Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications:
- An LLB or JD from an accredited law school and licensed to practice law in New Jersey.
- At least 5-8 years of relevant professional experience
- Possesses and applies a comprehensive knowledge of principles, practices and procedures relevant to the complex operation and success of a utility regulatory practice
- Requires excellent legal research, analytical abilities, and an ongoing knowledge of federal or state law
- Must have the ability to communicate clearly – both orally and in writing; to read and analyze legal materials and other data; to work in high pressure conditions under time deadlines
Preferred Qualifications:
At least 7 years of legal experience in State regulatory electric utility matters and practice before a state public service commission
